Hazmat FRO - First Responder Operations Training
Description:
This is a 16 hour CSTI certified Hazmat – First Responder
Operations (FRO) course. A state certification will be issued upon
successful completion of the course.
Program Goals:
The goal of this course is to provide likely first responders with an
improved capability to respond to the Haz Mat events in a safe and
competent manner, within the response resources and responder
capabilities at the “Operations” Level.
Program Objectives:
At the completion of this training session, participants will achieve
all of the following objectives through completion of a state certified
exam meeting performance standards.
- All First Responder Awareness Level Information
- Introduction to Hazmat at the FRO Level.
- Hazardous Material Recognition and Safety
- Safety, Isolation and Notifications (SIN)
- Incident Command
- Identification, Hazard Assessment and Action Planning
- Protective Equipment and First Responder Limitations
- Hazmat Release Countermeasures
- Protection Actions
- Decon, Disposal and Documentation
- Agency, Coordination and pre-Even Plans
- The Safe and Competent Hazmat Response
- Exercise, Critique and Exercise Briefing
- The Media and Hazmat Legal Aspects
At the conclusion of the class, each participant will take a
written examination and complete a course evaluation.
This course meets the OSHA HAZMAT 29CFR1910 .120(q)(6)(ii) and CCR Title
8, Section 5192(q)(6)(B) regulations.
Instructors:
Instructors are certified through the California State Training
Institute (CSTI) and are current members of local HAZMAT teams here in
San Diego County.
